PINELANDS COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
07 JUNE 2023
MEDIA RELEASE
Progress Update – August 2023
Since the Pinelands Community Improvement District (PLCID) officially came into existence at the beginning of July, significant progress has been made. A Not for Profit Company has been registered to house the CID. After a vendor selection process, First National Bank in Pinelands was been appointed as the CID’s banking provider, and WJ Steyn Accountants have been appointed as the CID’s accountant.
In addition, a number of steps have been taken to allow the CID to receive funds. These include concluding a financial agreement with the City of Cape as well as applying for SARS registration. Once this registration is received, the CID will be registered on the national Central Supplier Database, and then on the City of Cape Town’s supplier database.
A hiring process for a full-time Operations Manager has begun, and is currently in the interview stage. A Request for Proposal (RFP) for Public Safety closed on 31 July 2023 resulting in six potential service providers submitting proposals. The board is currently reviewing these proposals, and will soon begin negotiations with the shortlisted vendors.
Public safety remains the priority in Pinelands and we understand the need to launch these projects urgently to address the current crime concerns. We are working hard to complete the tasks by following the City’s processes.
We would like to thank everyone for supporting this initiative to help make Pinelands Safe, Clean & Green.
